Privacy Policy

LarkWrite ("we," "us") operates https://larkwrite.ink as a writing coach for authors. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

By creating an account or using the service, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information: email address, display name, and authentication identifiers from Firebase Auth (email/password or Google sign-in).
• Writing content: project drafts, titles, genres, writing samples you upload or paste, reader's notes, and related metadata stored in your account.
• Voice profile and preferences: a condensed style profile derived from your samples, your writing rules, and editor settings such as suggestion timing.
• Usage and billing: subscription tier, monthly AI feature usage counts, and Stripe customer and subscription identifiers when you upgrade.
• Technical data: basic server logs, security/rate-limit records tied to your account ID, and optional analytics events (sign-in, checkout) if Google Analytics is enabled.

We use your information solely to operate and improve the service:

• Authenticate you and keep your projects private to your account.
• Store, sync, and display your writing across sessions.
• Generate reader's notes, feedback, revisions, and other AI-assisted features you request.
• Build and apply your voice profile so suggestions match how you write.
• Enforce plan limits, process payments, and prevent abuse.
• Respond to support requests and comply with legal obligations.

When you use AI features, relevant portions of your writing (such as text around your cursor, selected passages, project title, genre, voice profile, and writing rules) are sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response for you.

Each request is processed independently. Your writing is not shared with other users, is not blended into other customers' prompts, and is not accessible through your personal Claude chat history at claude.ai.

Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models. We configure the service so each account's voice profile is loaded server-side from your own data only.

AI outputs are suggestions. You choose what to keep, edit, or discard.

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us run the product:

• Anthropic — processes writing content to provide AI features.
• Google Firebase — authentication, database, and application hosting.
• Stripe — payment processing for Plus and Pro subscriptions.
• Google Analytics (optional) — aggregated usage measurement when NEXT_PUBLIC_GA_MEASUREMENT_ID is configured.

We retain your account data and writing for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account in Settings, we permanently delete your profile, projects, samples, and comments from our database.

Billing records may be retained by Stripe according to their policies. Server logs and security records are kept for a limited period for operations and abuse prevention.

Access to projects is restricted by account authentication. API routes verify your identity on every request. Production voice profiles and writing rules are resolved server-side from your account, not from untrusted client input.

No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. We use industry-standard practices, but we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your data.

• Export: Settings → Your data → Export my data (JSON download of your account).
• Delete: Settings → Your data → Delete account (permanent; type DELETE to confirm).
• Correct: update your display name, writing rules, and content directly in the app.
• Opt out of analytics: decline the optional analytics banner on first visit, use browser tracking protections, or contact us. Google Analytics loads only after you accept.

LarkWrite is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We and our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. By using the service, you consent to this processing.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may also be communicated in-app or by email where appropriate.
